Heavy Losses Northwest of Town

Although the fighting has been raging back and forth in the middle of Soudersburg town, units on the Confederate right and Federal left have reportedly suffered the heaviest loss so far.

Hotlz's Brigade is said to have taken severe losses during an assault on Quinn's Brigade and Shanosky's Battery and the pursuit of Fondy's Division as it fell back towards the northwest corner of town.

Both Rasmussen's and Quinn's Brigade have taken very heavy losses, but they have exacted a heavy toll on Rockne's assaulting division in the process.

Mid-Point Turn Coming This Weekend....

Union control of the town of Soudersburg was short-lived. The town has become the scene of heavy fighting, with the lines surging back and forth. There have been a some Wisconsin, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida regiments sighted in town, but the most recent close quarters fighting has been between Alabamans and Pennsylvanians.

Heavy fighting is also reported on an un-named hill just to the to the northwest of town, as well as some fighting of an undetermined nature at Sykes.

Turn 3 coming this weekend....

Brigade Commanders Down

Initial reports indicate that at least two federal brigade commanders have been killed or severely wounded in the fighting in Soudersburg Town between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.  One may have been killed by a sharpshooter. A Confederate battery commander was also reported killed on a hill to the northwest of town.

Division headquarters from two opposing divisions can be seen on Soudersburg Pike close to the fighting.

The Battle of Soudersburg Draws Near....

Design Your Own Division, a completely fictional command simulation around the fictional town of Soudersburg.

Advancing on Soudersburg from the north is a Confederate force under command of Major General Matthew Fondy. His command has three divisions, including his own:

Fondy's Division (Major General Matthew Fondy)
MacDonald's Division (Major General Gregor MacDonald)
Engel's Division (Major General Todd Engel)

The force includes forces from Kentucky, Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee and other states. There are reportedly some expert marksmen from the Appalachians included.

The Federals are advancing from the south with two divisions under command of Major General Knute Rockne:

1st Division (Major General Knute Rockne)
2nd Division (Major General Charles Noll)

The command has a large number of western regiments and a large contingent from Pennsylvania.

The opposing forces will be fighting for control of the town of Soudersburg, as well as the crossroads at Orchard Junction and Diller's Corner. The action starts this coming weekend and continues through August 8th.
